Under the NEM Rakyat Programme, domestic consumers with rooftop solar PV installations will first use the energy they produce, with any excess exported to the TNB grid. This excess energy will be credited on a "one-on-one" offset basis against their electricity bill for up to ten years. The scheme helps consumers hedge against future electricity tariff increases by reducing reliance on imported energy. Any excess energy exported will be credited to the account, with rollovers allowed for up to 12 months.
